Act Right

I saw a quote, or maybe it was a meme, that stated something to the effect of, ‘There’s a lot of people running their mouths and not enough of them are getting punched in the mouth for it’, and at first I though that was a little extreme. However I’m slowing starting to believe it to be true.

I don’t know if it’s a post COVID thing, or if it’s a cultural difference, or an education problem, but it seems to me the audacity of the general public has gotten out of control. Maybe it’s because people now a days are given false bravado due to the internet and the ability to say what you want online without repercussions.

There’s a lot of the public who have gotten into their heads they can speak to anyone however they want and not be expected to be held accountable to their actions.

I have recently dealt with others who have blatantly disregarded common manners and decency and flown straight into “I’m going to run my mouth without consequence.” And these same individuals act shocked or alarmed when someone calls them out on their behavior.

The ‘Karen-itis’ of society has gotten out of control.

I don’t understand, as I started before, if it’s cultural, educational, or a lack of parentage on their end. Maybe these people weren’t taught how to act in public. Maybe their false victim mentality is learned. I have no idea. But it sure is getting tiring.

Has anyone else experienced this recently or witnessed it in public? The general lack of decorum, maturity, and common decency? There seems to be rash of ideals that some above the law, above rules, and will make a scene to be seen as difficult as possible to get their way.

I have never understood this behavior of “that doesn’t apply to me”. I mean if the majority has to follow a general rule, policy, or procedure of wherever they are or whatever they’re doing, how dare you think you are more important than anyone else?

I think the moral decay of society might be the issue and the fact that people don’t know how to admit they are wrong and need to alter their behavior.

Not enough people are standing up. Not enough people are pointing out perpetrators and saying ‘Hey, you ARE the problem’.

It’s this thinking that makes me believe that in the event of something important taking place in history, there will be a majority who just sit by.

Who say nothing.

Who let wrong doing go as is.

And this scares me.

Worse yet, with current issues across the world and how others have made rash decisions or choices based on false news and propaganda, instead of looking into facts themselves or finding factual news, it worries me how easy people are, lead, swayed, and lied to.

And maybe it’s because I deal with the public alot. I work in a field where speaking to all types of people is what I do, however I’m willing to wager that if you ask any customer service individual, any retail worker, any waitress or food industry worker, or any first responder we would all say the same.

Some of y’all out here weren’t disciplined enough by your parents and it shows. And what’s worse is some of you have made little Karens and Richards of your own and you’re teaching them to act in the same way- continuing the cycle of audacity.

One thing I know though is this-Karma has a way of working that out later.

Bless your hearts and all that.
